Just a thought! In Romans 5v17 it says we 'reign in life'. This is achieved or comes into affect because we recieve an 'abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness'.
Romans 5 v 17For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
This is quiet obvious and plain to see, but what interests me is this. (stay with me on this)
It does not say our spirit, our soul, or our future redeemed state. It says 'in life'
So where am I going?
The question I have been asking is this: Does the gift of righteousness only affect my spirit, is it only my spirit that is sanctified? Is it now up to me to sort out the flesh??
Would not 'life' include every part of our being?
What are YOUR thoughts on this, please feel free to give your thoughts / insights to these questions or coments.

We as you probably know are spiritual beings.
I believe if it were up to you to sort out your flesh, it would become works,( read Gal 6:11-15 ) looking to the laws to see if our bodies are holy enough to be in right standing with God.
As we are spiritual beings, being justfied by faith and reconciled by God, having been crucified with Christ and Christ living in us, i believe that it will be the work of the spirit that will sort out the flesh. A Horse pulls a cart!
Spirit sorts out the flesh!
2 cor 3:18-And we who with unveiled faces all reflect the the Lords glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit
We are urged to live a life worthy of the calling,(eph4:1)which is to be humble and patient... ex. ex.
The fruits of the Spirit, life by the Spirit.
If we live and are led by the Spirit then we are not under the law we are in the spirit.

That word reign is a strong word. it has authority. It declares the power of Christ in our life.
Out of interest... If you are the reigning champion then you are the title holder! We are the title holders of righteousness. We live a life as that of champions, victors over darkness.

howzeet boetie..
The word for life in the context is "zoe"... a word that literally means "vitality" more than anything else.
It's a word used universally to describe the life in all things including plants etc.
We know that God is the source of zoe life.
The new agers have made us avoid using it but it translates ENERGY!
e=mc2 energy and matter are essentially the same thing at subatomic level.
Einstein correctly formulated that energy cannot be destroyed, only move from one state of existence to another.
So then..those who will receive the gift of righteousness. plus IN ABUNDANCE, God's grace found in Jesus will reconnect to the ultimate source of vitality and energy...(makes you wanna go and eat some lentils...)
Death reigned through Adam..IN CHRIST WE HAVE LIFE..ENERGY ..VITALITY
We stay attached, He is the vine. we are the branches.
Its all HIM!
We don't dare to dream enough about the supernatural implications of the glory realm where curse, disease and limitation don't exist.
We gotta catch up ..the Gospel of the K I N G D O M needs to be preached to every creature under heaven.
Sorry gotta go, I'm teleporting to Pretoria to baptise a Gay ethiopian.
lots of love to you,Mich and the kids
Roy
Wow Roy that was so helpful....! Pucky, you made me think of that song by Queen, "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS MY FRIENDS......!"
Good stuff being brought up here, keep it up!!
Here's a question...what does reigning in life actually look like? How do we, "practically speaking", reign in life???
Hi there Lydia
As for what reigning in life looks like...
Jesus is the perfect example, doing what His Father shows Him.
Amongst other things, He heals the sick, shows grace to the humble, resists the proud, takes authority over the demonic, raises the dead, loves the unlovely, feeds the hungry, challenges the system with the ultimate source of power...LOVE..
After the triumph of the cross,He disarms the Kingdom of Death he asks the Father to send the Holy Spirit, through whom He prophesied, we would do even greater works than He did!
We are under the law of the Spirit of LIFE who has set us free from the law of sin and death.
The rule is of Faith expressed through love.
When grace is revealed to our hearts and we receive the gift of eternal righteousness that is Christ, the only response is adoration for Him and love for those around us.
In this space, we fulfill the commandments of the new covenant.
Joh 13:34 A new2537 commandment1785 I give1325 unto you,5213 That2443 ye love25 one another;240 as2531 I have loved25 you,5209 that2443 ye5210 also2532 love25 one another.240
Joh 13:35 By1722 this5129 shall all3956 men know1097 that3754 ye are2075 my1698 disciples,3101 if1437 ye have2192 love26 one to another.240, 1722
We don't have all the answers, but those we have are so beautiful aren't they.. always restorative, always redemptive..BEAUTIFUL.
Lots of love Roy
Thanks Roy! Yes, beautiful.......
I think our problem is that when were saved, our brains are not born again like our spirits are. We have the fullness of christ in us, but our minds have not yet been transformed. We have to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
The first and most important step in this renewal is to realise that we have a new nature, our old nature is gone. Noe we are essentially good. A righteous spirit, as righteous as Jesus is. So in the end we will have victory.
As to how this mind is renewed, and the question, who does it...well i'm also trying to work that out. It seems to me that it's us and it's god. We can resist the work of the spirit in our lives, grieve the holy spirit. That may effect regningin life.
Overall though i think its more about Him working in us. Him changin us.
In hong kong i asked Rob "is there anyting we can do to slow down or speed up the work of grace in our lives"...he said no...not without falling into works.
Well i guess all thats left is faith...you change us Lord...
Wayno
Hi Wayno
I am glad you asked Rob the question "is there anyting we can do to slow down or speed up the work of grace in our lives".
I remember us throwing this one around and not coming up with an answer.
Well now we know.
It is great to engage our minds and meditate on the wonderful Word
